Nyungwe Forest National Park is sometimes called a mountainous rainforest, located in the Southern Part of Rwanda and was officially conserved in 2005, and later on, the Rwandan Government had to declare it as a National Park, most importantly to the high level of its protection in Rwanda. The National Park is the only leading destination in Rwanda for Primates most importantly the Chimpanzee trekking experience.
Besides that, there are other 13 species of primates which include; the Angola colobus and the owl-faced monkey, not forgetting the prominent experience of the canopy walkway, the only one of its kind in East Africa. The forest receives more than 2000 mm a year of rain.

Nyungwe forest has a wide diversity of wild animals, most importantly the 13 primate species, thus making Rwanda primarily a primate trekking destination which includes; the Chimpanzees.
Bird watching Safari
Nyungwe forest is the best Rwanda birding destination which can be done both inside the forest and along Butare, with a record of Over 275 species, most importantly the 25 species which are endemics in Albertine rift mountain which includes; Chapin’s flycatcher, blue-headed sunbird, and red-faced woodland.
