Semliki National Park

Semliki National Park lies in western Uganda, covering an area of 220 km². This was established in 1993 and is surrounded by lush jungle vegetation type of open acacia, grassy savannah, and swampy areas, favorable for exotic wildlife experience. Named after river Semliki which flows through the park Known for its two hot springs which are Nyasimbi (Female) and Bitente(Male), couples who disappeared mythetical.

Semuliki National Park inhabits both exotic wildlife like African elephants, Hippos, crocodiles, African buffalo, primates like, chimpanzee, baboons black and white monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and vervets monkey; and birdlife which includes; spot-breasted ibis, Hartlaub’s duck, Congo serpent eagle, chestnut-flanked goshawk, red-thighed sparrowhawk,Western bronze-naped pigeon.

The Sempaya Hot Springs.

The most interesting activity in Semliki National Park is the continuous eruption of hot water from deep down, with temperatures high enough to boil eggs.

Bird watching.

One of the top bird-watching Uganda destination and a home to over 435 bird species which includes the spot-breasted ibis, Hartlaub’s duck, Congo serpent eagle, chestnut-flanked goshawk, red-thighed sparrowhawk,Western bronze-naped pigeon, yellow-throated cuckoo, and Albertine Rift endemic.
